Beast Bow Out
The Brampton Beast of the ECHL have folded, citing the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Beast started in 2013 in the Central Hockey League after the Ontario Hockey League’s Brampton Battalion moved to North Bay.
The team previously shut down its 2020 season and opted out of the 2021 campaign.
Over 7 seasons, Brampton served as the ECHL affiliate for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens at various points in time
An expansion team in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec to serve as an affiliate of the Canadiens is expected to join the league next season.

CFL Plans
Canadian Football League Commissioner Randy Ambrosie says the league remains committed to returning in 2021.
The CFL didn’t operate last season.
Plans for an abbreviated season were shelved last August after the league failed to secure financial aid.
The CFL unveiled an 18-game schedule for all 9 teams last November, which remains on track .
However, Commissioner Ambrosie says the league is keeping all of its options open.
Minor Hockey
Owen Sound Girls Hockey will resume tomorrow.
The Ice Hawk teams will have the same ice times as prior to the December Lockdown.
Barring unforeseen alterations, the season will be extended until April 18th.
Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group has re-opened registration.
The organization plans on resuming the week of February. 22nd & operate an extended program to April 18th.
