The OPP is warning residents to make sure their vehicles are locked and valuables are hidden from sight when they venture out on trails.
Police say there have been at least three incidents involving break-ins at trails in Springwater so far this month.
The first incident occurred on February 3, when police say the victim was parked on Gill Road in the Township of Springwater, between the hours of 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. Upon returning from their walk, the victim noticed that the window was broken and a purse was taken.
On February 6, 2021, a second vehicle was entered by also having its window broken. This vehicle was parked in the lot at the Minesing Wetlands Conservation Area located on Vespra Valley Road north of Snow Valley Road in the Township of Springwater. This incident occurred between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Identification and valuables were taken.
On February 13, 2021, a third vehicle had its window smashed while parked along Gill Road in the Township of Springwater. This occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m. while the owner was out hiking on a local trail.
