A family managed to escape their 7th Avenue East home safely after a fire broke out late Friday night.
Owen Sound Police, Owen Sound firefighters and Grey County EMS were called to a report of a garage fire at 391 7th Avenue East just prior to midnight.
A fire department official says emergency crews arrived on scene to find a heavy fire burning in the garage and attic of the house.
A family of four had already evacuated the home safely.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and remained on scene until around 4 a.m. Saturday morning.
One firefighter suffered a leg injury at the scene.
The garage and attic area of the home suffered heavy fire damage. The rest of the house sustained smoke and water damage.
A fire department official says the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, but it is not considered suspicious.
