A sleepy driver in Oro-Medonte has led to a stolen vehicle and impaired driving charges.
Police say shortly before noon yesterday, they received a call from a concerned citizen about a suspicious person asleep or unconscious behind the wheel of a pickup truck in a driveway off of Highway 11.
The caller told police they had tried to wake the individual unsuccessfully.
Officers arrived and were able to wake the driver who was taken to hospital to be checked out.
During the investigation, police learned that the pickup truck had been reported stolen and that the driver was in violation of probation order conditions.
Police say as a result, Terry Stillwell, age 32, from Adjala-Tosorontio Township has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – drugs
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
- Fail to comply with probation order
The accused was released on a Form 10 Undertaking and is set to appear on March 30, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.
