The president of the company that operates Roberta Place in Barrie has written an open letter to the community. In it, David Jarlette expresses sadness over the deaths of 50 of the home’s residents affected by the UK variant of COVID-19.
He also pays tribute to the staff of Roberta place, as well as outside agencies brought in to help deal with the outbreak.
Jarlette also encourages people to use caution when seeking information about Roberta Place in the media, and points them towards what he terms “reputable sources” such as the local health unit, the home itself or Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
There have been unfavourable media reports in recent days regarding the findings of provincial inspections in the months leading up to the outbreak.
