A traffic stop in Penetanguishene has resulted in the arrests of two people, as well as the seizure of drugs and a prohibited knife.
Police say the vehicle was stopped early Monday morning, after it failed to stop at a stop sign and the driver provided the officer the name of another person.
Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody after officers determined they were allegedly breaching release conditions.
During a search, police located a quantity of drugs and a prohibited knife.
As a result of the investigation, Ryan Spademan, 24 years of Midland, Ontario was charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Obstruct Police Officer contrary to the Criminal Code
- Failure to Comply with a Release Order contrary to the Criminal Code
- Fail to Comply with an Order made during a Declared Emergency contrary to the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act
- Driving under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- Disobey Stop Sign contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
Also charged is Derick Moreau-Clark, 27 years of McDougall Township, Ontario with the following offences:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Failure to Comply with an Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code
- Possession of a Prohibited Device contrary to the Criminal Code
- Fail to Comply with an Order made during a Declared Emergency contrary to the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act
The accused parties were held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice via video link.
