Grey Bruce has a new Covid-19 Vaccine Task Force in place to provide feedback and support for the health unit’s vaccination program plan in the region.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit says the task force will meet regularly and includes a wide range of stakeholders, including: agriculture, business, community health centres, congregate settings, schools, EMS, faith-based organizations, fire, Indigenous communities, hospitals, municipalities, pharmacies, police, primary care and social services.
“Vaccination prioritization and allocation to different sectors is based on the Ontario Ministry of Health COVID-19 vaccine program,” a statement from the health unit explains.
As of Tuesday evening, a total of 390 vaccine doses have been administered in Grey Bruce.
The Health Unit says it expects all long-term care residents in the region will be covered with first shots by next week, when hundreds more doses of the Moderna vaccine are delivered to Grey Bruce.
According to the health unit, the Grey Bruce Vaccine Rollout plan includes three models for service delivery.
1) Mobile clinics with vaccine distribution to long-term care homes, retirement homes, First Nations, and others.
2) Distribution of vaccine to practice setting clinics with primary care, hospitals, and pharmacies.
3) Mass Immunization Hubs; three local recreation facilities are being considered for Mass Immunization Hubs.
