Owen Sound Police say their officers on foot patrol were kept busy Monday morning.
Police say on Jan 25th at about 8 a.m. two officers were walking on the west side of the city, when they reportedly observed a breach of the province’s COVID-19 Stay at Home Order. They say at that time, they also commenced a drug investigation which led to the arrest of a 37-year-old Wiarton man.
They charged the man with obstructing police, possession of a controlled substance (Fentanyl) and failing to comply with an order made during a declared emergency.
Police say a few hours later, at about 11a.m. the officers returned to the same area to conduct further foot patrol. A short time later a man came out of an apartment and told them his girlfriend had overdosed on drugs.
According to police, the officers went into the apartment to find a woman on the floor who was unresponsive and not breathing. They say someone from the building already trying to help her, but was unsuccessful.
Police say they began ‘Life Saving Measures’ which led to the 30-year-old Owen Sound woman being revived. She was then transported to hospital by paramedics.
As police were about to leave, they spotted a 33 year old Owen Sound woman who was wanted on a warrant, and they arrested her. She had a bail hearing today (Jan 26)
