A vehicle parked on top of a snowbank in Tay Township with its driver asleep inside, has led to impaired driving charges.
A citizen on Pine Street in Waubaushene reported the vehicle to police on Sunday night.
When officers arrived, they spoke with the driver, and police say a quantity of a substance believed to be heroin was seized.
Police say Nicholas Hammond 30 years of Tay Township has been charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Dangerous operation
contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Heroin
contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
- G1 driver not accompanied by a qualified driver
contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario
The accused was released from police custody on a undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on February 11, 2021.
The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the accused’s driver’s licence has been further suspended for 90 days under the conditions of the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) .
