With much colder weather settling in for the weekend you may be tempted to head out onto the ice of a lake or river for some winter fun.
The OPP would rather you stay on land.
Lakes that are frozen in our region are uncertain because we have not had the sustained cold temperatures needed to create safe ice for travel.
Police say a ice surfaces may look fine for outdoor activities, but the fresh snow may be hiding some very dangerous conditions.
Three men from Midland and Coldwater died last Sunday in two separate incidents, when their snowmobiles went through the ice.
