The Inter-Township Fire Department responded to a pair of calls on Thursday night.
Early in the evening, the department received a call from a passerby on Ledgerock Road that a fire was burning on the site of the business.
Deputy Chief Andy Redmond relates the fire was a pile of skids in the quarry that had escalated.
Redmond says the incident was handled quickly and he described the fire as ” minor ”
Then just before midnight, the Inter-Township Fire Department received a call about a fire on Grey Road 170
When the department arrived, the shop-garage and a nearby vehicle were engulfed in flames.
Redmond says a water curtain was created and the damage was contained.
The initial estimate of damage for the fire on Grey Road 170 was $ 200,000
Redmond says for the 2nd incident there were 7 trucks and 29 firefighters involved plus the Inter-Township Fire Department received tanker support from Wiarton.
