Jays Sign Springer
Free agent outfielder George Springer and the Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to a 6-year, $150 million deal, the largest contract in franchise history.
Springer is a career .270 hitter with 174 homers.
In 51 games for Houston last year, Springer had 14 homers and drove in 32 runs
Sutton Passes
Hall of Fame pitcher Don Sutton, a mainstay of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ rotation died yesterday at age 75.
Sutton died at his home in Rancho Mirage, California, after a long struggle with cancer.
A four-time All-Star, Sutton won 324 games while pitching for the Dodgers, Houston, Milwaukee, Oakland, California and then returning to the Dodgers again in 1988, which was his final season.
Only Cy Young and Nolan Ryan made more starts than Sutton.
Mahomes Makes Progress
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol
Mahomes has what is considered to be a concussion after taking a hit from in the 3rd quarter of the Chiefs playoff game against Cleveland
While there has been progression, it’s too early to say that he definitely will play in Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills.
Woods Withdraws
Tiger Woods has confirmed he recently had a 5th surgery on his back & that will keep him from starting the year until after the West Coast Swing on the PGA Tour.
Woods did not say when he had the surgery which was designed to remove a pressurized disc fragment that was giving him nerve pain during the PNC Championship last month
Woods is expected to miss at least 2 months on the Tour, but hopes to return for the Masters in April,
