Another tragedy on area waters.
Around two o’clock yesterday afternoon, OPP got a 911 call from several residents of Tay Point Road, known as Midland Point, that a snowmobile had just gone into open water while driving on the ice.
Emergency crews arrived and found the snowmobiler about 50 metres from shore in open water with ice chunks.
Despite their efforts, they were not able to revive the man. 40 year old William Fournier of Midland was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The investigation into what happened continues.
