Millions of dollars in Provincial gas tax funding is flowing to Barrie and surrounding areas
Ontario’s Gas Tax program supports municipalities by providing two cents per litre of the tax to improve and expand transit.
Close to $4.3 million of the funding will go to Barrie, Midland, Orillia and Simcoe County.
“Our government is committed to helping municipalities sustain and improve public transit throughout the province,” says Caroline Mulroney, Ontario’s Minister of Transportation. “Supporting transit systems is more important than ever as municipalities across Ontario struggle during the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding will help ensure people have access to safe, reliable transportation to get to work or pick up essential items like a prescription.”
Here’s what local areas are receiving:
Barrie – $2,248,027
Midland – $175,777
Orillia – $543,980
Simcoe County – $1, 390, 254
Pleased to share that our government is providing $375 million to 109 municipalities across Ontario as part of this year’s Gas Tax program.
This funding will help ensure people have access to safe, reliable transportation for essential travel.
