A fundraiser for homeless initiatives is returning to Goderich for a second year.
The “Coldest Night of the Year” walk, organized by the United Way of Perth-Huron, is a COVID-safe fundraiser supporting experiencing homelessness, and hunger.
The Goderich edition of the Coldest Night of the Year will be held virtually, with participants invited to walk their neighbourhoods on February 20th.
Last year’s event enabled the County of Huron to hire a supportive housing worker, helping find housing for vulnerable community members and ensuring successful tenancies.
Three beds were also added to Huron Turning Point in Exeter, assisting men from across Huron along with support for the Out of the Cold — Hearts to Home shelter in Goderich.
This year’s walk also raises money for UWPH’s Urgent Needs Fund (UNF), which supports local residents in a time of crisis with funds for essentials like rent, groceries and medication.
