Premier Doug Ford says a decision on whether to implement tougher lockdown restrictions for Ontario will come in the next few days.
Today the Premier said, “everything’s urgent when it comes to the pandemic” when asked if he was considering tougher restrictions here like the curfew Quebec has suggested.
“I’m going to have a conversation with Premier Legault tonight and have a good chat with him, I’m going to be speaking with the Health Table later today and we’re going to be making that decision over the next few days,” said Ford.
Today the Province reported 3,266 new cases today and 37 more deaths.
In the meantime, free and voluntary Covid-19 testing is available now for international travellers arriving at Pearson International Airport.
They can sign up ahead of time or take the test when they arrive. The testing is for travellers who are arriving and staying in the province for 14 days.
At the airport today, Ford said his government will continue to work with the Federal government on airport Covid security.
Minister of Health Christine Elliott outlined the new option for travellers at Pearson.
“Travellers choosing to participate in the pilot will receive a self-administered test that will be supervised by a health care provider either in person or by video in a convenient and dedicated space in Terminals 1 and 3 here at Toronto Pearson,” she said.
Those test results will be added to the system within 48 hours.
Ontario has launched a voluntary and free COVID-19 pilot testing program at @TorontoPearson for eligible travellers.
