The Barrel
Following the Gold Medal Game, the Americans posed for an on-ice championship photo with a barrel that had the Hockey Canada logo on it.
US Coach Nate Leaman explains the process of bringing the barrel out for the photo dates back more than a decade to a US parable of crossing the dessert one barrel at a time.

With the completion of the World Junior Hockey Championship, the Ontario Hockey League Trade Window has opened.
The Owen Sound Attack are expected to announce a transaction today
It’s anticipated Owen Sound will acquire a forward prospect, a player who has not played in the OHL previously.
The belief is the transaction will be conducted with an Eastern Conference club, but the Attack refused comment on any trade speculation.

Sauble Speedway Update
The ownership structure at Sauble Speedway has been altered.
Jeff & Tina Cassidy of Ayr have purchased 50 % of the speedway and will jointly own the operation with Paul Gresel who has been the sole owner for the past several years.
Sauble Speedway General Manager Joe Chisholm confirmed the ownership alteration at Sauble Speedway.
Football Notes
The Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League have signed quarterback Cody Fajardo to a contract extension through the 2022 season.
Fajardo was named a CFL All-Star and West Division nominee for Most Outstanding Player in 2019 as he led the CFL with 4,302 yards
The Riders were 13 & 5 & finished first in the West Division in 2019.
The Houston Texans of the National Football league have hired Nick Caserio as their general manager,
Caserio has been the New England’s de facto general manager for the past 14 years.
The Texans have been looking for new football management since firing head coach and acting GM Bill O’Brien after they started the season 0-4.
Four players in their first year of eligibility are among the 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2021.
Quarterback Peyton Manning, defensive back Charles Woodson, wide receiver Calvin Johnson and defensive end Jared Allen are all finalists.
As many as 5 of the 15 finalists will be chosen later this month for enshrinement.
Wide receiver DeVonta Smith of No. 1 ranked Alabama has won the 2020 Heisman Trophy.
The trophy is given annually to the top player in US college football.
Smith is the 4th ever wide receiver to win the prestigious award.
Vanney Hired
The LA Galaxy have hired Greg Vanney as their head coach.
Vanney played 7 seasons as a defender with the Galaxy before beginning his coaching career.
With Toronto FC, Vanney reached the post-season 5 times, made MLS Cup final 3 times and won the championship on one occasion.
Vanney replaces Guillermo Barros Schelotto, who was fired by the Galaxy in late October
