Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “.
Last week I had an interesting discussion with Caroline Ouellette who was a member of the Canadian national women’s ice hockey team which won 4 consecutive Olympic Gold Medals along with 6 World Women’s Hockey Championships
Caroline Ouellette is also a co-founder of an online network that helps student-athletes navigate the recruitment process plus serves an ambassador for Right to Play.
Amazingly, we didn’t talk about any of that…..
Caroline Ouellette called CFOS to discuss the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup which is now underway, a concept where she serves as an ambassador.
The program has expanded going from the previous Peewee age bracket to now include players registered in Hockey Canada in the U11, U13 & U15 divisions.
Between now and January 28th, teams in those age categories are encouraged to come up with a Good Deeds project in their community that the team will take the lead with.
Because of current restrictions, rather than execute their good deed, the teams are asked to submit a 30 second video on Twitter to outline their initiative and campaign.
In mid February the regional finalists will be announced and then from Valentine’s Day to February 23rd, Canada votes for the winner of the Good Deeds Cup and the $ 100,000 Grand Prize.
Hockey teams looking to participate in the campaign can get more information by going to chevroletgooddeedscup.ca
I’m Fred Wallace
