Four cases of the new coronavirus variant have been announced in Canada.
A new strain of the virus that causes COVID-19 was first discovered in Britain earlier this month.
Provincial health officials announced on Sunday that it has since been detected in one patient in British Columbia and three in Ontario, bringing Canada’s total to four.
The variant has also been detected in several other countries, including Denmark, Belgium, France, Australia and the Netherlands.
While the new variant is said to spread easier and faster, there is yet to be any evidence that it’s any more deadly.
Canada has banned all incoming flights from the U.K. until January 6, 2021.

UPDATE: After investigation, these cases have been connected to a traveller from the UK. We all need to avoid non-essential travel and follow mandatory quarantine requirements upon return – they keep you, your loved ones, and communities safe. https://t.co/0WJuw3XMzj
