The first vaccine to be administered in Simcoe-Muskoka will happen Tuesday morning in Barrie.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) says a health unit nurse will administer the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine to Lori Black, a Barrie-based personal service worker caring for seniors at Victoria Village long term care home.
Black is among the first priority group to be immunized by-invitation-only in the first phase of the rollout at the Covid-19 Immunization Clinic at RVH.
The Health Unit is leading the historic and complex immunization rollout across Simcoe County and Muskoka.
The vaccine will not be broadly available to the general public until sometime later in 2021 and it’s expected it will take another six to nine months to immunize all Ontarians who opt to get the vaccine.
The clinic will serve all of Simcoe and Muskoka.
