All of Ontario will reportedly be put under lockdown as of Christmas Eve.
That would mean only essential businesses would be allowed to remain open.
Sources say a 28-day lockdown for the southern portions of the province (south of Sudbury), will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, while the northern parts of Ontario will be under a 14-day lockdown.
The winter break for students will also reportedly be extended.
The province recorded 2,316 new cases of the virus yesterday, along with 25 more deaths related to the virus.
Toronto, Peel Region, York Region and Windsor-Essex are already under lockdown, while Hamilton joins the grey zone of the province’s COVID-19 response framework today.
The province-wide lockdown is expected to be officially announced by Premier Doug Ford at Queen’s Park later today.
