After receiving a strong response this fall, an outdoor concert series in downtown Owen Sound is returning for two special performances this week.
City officials say Music at the Market — free, physically distanced lunchtime concerts — is returning on Thursday and Friday at the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market square along the Sydenham River.
The two shows will feature a mixture of holiday music and other hits by the artists performing.
Thursday, the husband and wife duo of Kevin and Karen Moyse known as Moondance will hit the stage. They play well-known hits spanning six decades, including holiday classics, some rock and roll and contemporary country hits.
Coco Love Alcorn, recently nominated for Canadian Folk Music Awards Contemporary Singer of the Year, will serenade the square with some tunes on Friday afternoon.
Both outdoor concerts are from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and will take place rain, snow or shine.
“We’re hoping for reasonably good weather, so people can make it downtown and finish their Christmas or holiday shopping locally and enjoy some good music,” says Owen Sound’s Manager of Community Development and Marketing Brent Fisher.
The city advises it has worked with Public Health to ensure all provincial Covid regulations are adhered to for these events, with adequate space for people attending and physical distancing monitored by staff and security.
