Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says vaccine rollout was an important discussion at today’s 23rd first minister’s meeting of the year with the provinces.
He says the first 30,000 doses of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine are expected to arrive on Canadian soil in just a few days.
“To all Canadians,” he said, “if you are feeling relieved and hopeful, you are not alone. This is the good news we all needed. But remember, this is only the first step in what would be a massive project over a long winter.”
Pfizer and the Federal government are currently finalizing the 14 vaccination site locations.
Trudeau adds that the Federal government will be covering the cost for the vaccines and provinces won’t have to pay.
He also says serious side effects to the vaccine are rare, but they are creating a Federal Support Program around vaccine safety for all Canadians to cover this area.
We’ve just wrapped up our meeting with the premiers – our 23rd of the year – where we spoke about our shared fight against COVID-19, our vaccine rollout, and strengthening health care. Tune in now for an update on the work we’re doing: https://t.co/hPhujxNJTs
