Three hospital foundations in Bruce County have additional funds to purchase new medical equipment after a $60,000 donation from Ontario Power Generation.
The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, Kincardine Community and Health Care Foundation and Walkerton & District Hospital Foundation are receiving $20,000 each from OPG.
“In this challenging year, when hospitals are under additional stress due to the pandemic, OPG is pleased to be able to provide additional support to front-line health care in our local communities says Lise Morton, OPG V-P of Nuclear Waste Management division, which operates the Western Waste Management Facility at the Bruce nuclear site.
At the Kincardine hospital, the funds will go towards the new CT scanner. Work is nearing completion on the east side of the facility to house the new machine.
Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation will use the funds towards its purchases of an echocardiography ultrasound machine and a new portable digital x-ray.
While in Walkerton, the $20,000 will help with the purchase of a new anaesthetic machine in the operating room.
