Grey Bruce OPP say they responded to nine collisions and helped several stuck vehicles in the 24 hours around Tuesday’s winter storm.
As first responders who know what can cause collisions and what the results of those collisions can be, they’re issuing some reminders for drivers.
-Consider installing four winter snow tires (if you haven’t already);
-Download the free Ontario 511 mobile App, to get access to real-time highway conditions and traffic information;
-Plan on extra time for winter travel;
-Clean snow and ice off of your vehicle;
Police have some safe winter driving tips:
-Leave more space between you and other vehicles so you have time to react and stop quickly;
-Proceed with caution where large snowbanks could reduce your line of sight;
-Reduce your speed and avoid sudden manoeuvres to stay in control at all times:
-Avoid distractions and be alert for changing road conditions;
With the snow continuing to fall in @explorethebruce , the #SouthBruceOPP wants to ensure you're taking the time to clear the snow off your vehicle. Don't create visibility problems for the driver behind you, clear the snow. #WorkingTogether #RoadSafety ^km pic.twitter.com/z5jWk2NIVi
