Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ”
Today I wanted to talk lacrosse and the swirling cluster-fiasco that is, or was, connected to the shift of the Brampton Excelsiors Major franchise to Owen Sound.
The announcement a week ago quickly evolved into a conglomeration of sports operations and political grandstanding ( there’s been a lot of that lately ) that created a confusing scenario, so we’ll let it breathe for another day.
Then again, maybe I should talk lacrosse since there is zero professional sports activity today. No NBA, No NHL, no….well you get it.
All that I’m left with is the U.S. Thanksgiving and 3 National Football League games tomorrow.
The traditional games in Detroit and Dallas will see the Houston Texans in against the Lions and the Washington Football Team visiting the Cowboys.
Now the NFL can hype better than almost everyone, except maybe the UFC, but the first two games aren’t sterling matchups.
Houston is 3 & 7. The Lions were shutout in their last outing….by CAROLINA !!!
The middle game does have playoff ramifications but only because the dreadful NFC East does have to produce a division winner and Dallas, Washington, the Giants and Philadelphia all sit with 3 wins on the year
That’s brutal
The late game is in the AFC North and normally Baltimore-Pittsburgh would mean something big.
The Steelers have a perfect record of 10 & 0 and they’ll host a Baltimore team that is expected to be missing their prime backfield runners due to COVID-19.
Clarification in lacrosse and US Thanksgiving NFL action are on the radar on what otherwise is a dead day in sports.
I’m Fred Wallace
