Patrick’s Protest
Last Wednesday confirmation of the franchise shift of the Brampton Excelsiors Major Lacrosse team to Owen Sound was confirmed by owner Joe Norton and other parties connected to the local lacrosse community in Owen Sound.
Political opposition in Brampton has arisen, specifically a letter from Mayor Patrick Brown to the Ontario Lacrosse Association has been drafted and dispatched.
Mayor Brown objects to the shift and states legal avenues could be pursued to prevent the shuffle of the Excelsiors to Owen Sound.
The letter of protest from Mayor Brown to the OLA, which alludes to potential legal action on the part of the city, is dated November 4th.
The local confirmation of the shift in Owen Sound was announced on November 18th.
Deal For DeBrusk
The Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League have signed forward Jake DeBrusk to a 2 year contract.
DeBrusk, a former Bruins 1st round selection, scored 19 goals for Boston last year.
The 24 year old is the son of Port Elgin native, Louie DeBrusk
Louie DeBrusk played more than 400 games in the NHL over 11 seasons with the Edmonton Oilers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Phoenix Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks.
Knights Test Positive
Four players with the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League have tested positive for COVID-19
The 4 players have been self-isolating and are all recovering well accoridng to the Knights
In addition, multiple family members of Golden Knights players have also reportedly tested positive.
