Five new cases of COVID 19 were reported Sunday (Nov 22) in Grey Bruce.
Saturday there were 16 newly confirmed cases.
Public Health says Sunday’s cases consist of one in each of the following communities: Blue Mountains, Saugeen Shores, Arran-Elderslie, Hanover and Kincardine.
There are 53 confirmed active cases in the region, plus eight active probable cases that Public Health says are not lab confirmed, but high-risk contacts of an active case and also symptomatic.
The Health Unit says there are 284 high risk contacts associated with Grey Bruce’s active cases.
Medical Officer of Health Dr Ian Arra says, “It takes a tremendous amount of effort to manage this number of high risk contacts.” He adds, “This number will keep increasing, unless we limit our unprotected encounters with all people outside of our own households.”
There are two cases that are currently hospitalized in Grey Bruce.
No one has died locally from COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic.
Public Health says there are no long-term care homes, retirement homes, schools or daycares in Grey Bruce.
