Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says his government has made good on its commitment to the environment by tabling Bill C-12.
He says ignoring the risks of climate change isn’t an option and that Canadians know how it threatens their future.
He says Canada has to reach carbon neutrality by 2050 and that the Canadian Net Zero Emissions Accountability Act will help achieve it.
“Bill C-12 lays out a framework of accountability and transparency that will ensure we reach this goal in a way that gives Canadians confidence,” he said.
Trudeau adds we don’t have to choose between clean air and good jobs.
Over 120 countries have committed to the same 2050 goal, he says, and the momentum is building around the world.
Net-zero emissions by 2050. It’s ambitious – but it’s possible, it’s necessary, and it’s exactly what we’re going to do. For more on our plan to support jobs and build a cleaner future and more competitive economy, tune in now: https://t.co/1gkH9X2Nbo
