Despite causing controversy in the Catholic board, the Simcoe County District School Board has decided to move its secondary students to a hybrid learning model in the New Year.
A letter from the board was reportedly sent home to parents yesterday and on its website, the board says the decision was made “in an effort to ensure that SCDSB secondary school students have access to a broad range of courses and flexibility to move between learning modes when necessary.”
Hybrid learning is a teaching method where teachers instruct in-person and remote students at the same time.
It’s expected to begin in February.
The Catholic board recently moved to the blended model for secondary students, but has postponed its decision on elementary school students after an online petition was created by parents.
