The OPP has arrested two people following two early morning robberies over the weekend in Orillia.
On Saturday, November 14, 2020, shortly after midnight, police say two men entered a Forest Avenue residence, by force, and restrained the lone male resident.
The two suspects proceeded to steal numerous items and threaten the victim before leaving.
On Sunday, November 15, 2020, approximately 8:45 a.m., a disturbance was reported to police involving a man chasing another on Moffat Street.
Officers responded and located one of the involved men. Witnesses then directed police to an Atherley Road apartment where the incident originated and investigators learned that a robbery had taken place involving the two suspects from the previous incident.
Two suspects were arrested at the scene, while police managed to locate the third suspect who had fled prior to their arrival.
As a result, Richard RIDER, age 33, of Orillia has been charged with:

Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm, contrary to Section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, contrary to Section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person, contrary to Section 246(a) of the Criminal Code

Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, contrary to Section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
Robbery with weapon, contrary to Section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm, contrary to Section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
In addition, Ashlee RUSBY, age 26, of Orillia has been charged with:
Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, contrary to Section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
Robbery with weapon, contrary to Section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
Failure to comply with release order, contrary to Section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code
Later that afternoon, officers located and arrested the third suspect at a residence that he was known to frequent. As a result, Keith WOOD, age 27, of Severn, has been charged with:

Possession of prohibited weapon, contrary to Section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code
Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code
Failure to comply with undertaking, contrary to Section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code

Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code
All accused parties were held in custody pending bail hearings and are set to appear on November 16, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Barrie.
