Wasaga Beach councillors have changed their mind.
At a committee meeting on Thursday morning, members voted unanimously in favour of allowing cannabis retail stores in town.
In 2019, the town decided to uphold a previous decision to opt out of allowing such retailers.
But the town launched a survey in August, 2020 and 285 respondents or 74.6% voted for the town to “opt in.”
A total of 97 respondents voted for the Town to continue to “opt out.”
This new decision to allow retail cannabis stores still has to be approved by full council.
