Changes to the colour-coded COVID-19 framework take effect today across the province.
They were made last week by the provincial government in response to rising case numbers of the virus.
The framework takes a gradual approach that includes introducing preventative measures earlier to help avoid broader closures and allow for additional public health and workplace safety measures to be introduced or removed incrementally.
It categorizes public health unit regions into five levels: Green-Prevent, Yellow-Protect, Orange-Restrict, Red-Control, and Lockdown as a last resort.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health unit is in the Yellow Protect level.
As a result the following restrictions are in effect:
General:
· Gatherings are limited to 10 people indoors and 25 outdoors. However, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit strongly advises that people only have close contacts with their direct household at this time.
· Workplace COVID-19 screenings must take place.
· Face coverings are required in all indoor public spaces, at workplaces and recommended in places where physical distancing is a challenge.
· Residents are encouraged to restrict non-essential travel and only plan essential outings at this time.
· Self-monitor for symptoms and stay home if you are sick. If you have COVID-19 symptoms, get tested and self-isolate until test results are received.
Restaurants and Bars:
· All restaurants and bars must close at midnight.
· Alcohol is only permitted to be sold/served between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m.
· Contact tracing information is required for patrons (one per group).
· Limit of 6 people may be seated together.
· Music volume must be limited to be no louder than the volume of a normal conversation.
