The province is transferring more funds to Huron County, under the Social Services Relief Fund.
Huron-Bruce Progressive Conservative MPP Lisa Thompson announced $360,589 would be transferred to the County of Huron.
The funding is meant to help those in needs during the COVID-19 pandemic, including individuals living in community housing, supportive housing, people with low incomes, social assistance recipients, those that are experiencing homelessness, and others who require increased social services support to stay safe and healthy throughout the pandemic period.
The Social Services Relief Fund is part of the up to $4 billion being provided to Ontario municipalities under the federal-provincial Safe Restart Agreement.
In May, the province provided the first payment in the Social Services Relief Fund for Huron County, totalling more than $708 thousand.
A portion of that funding was allocated to the United Way of Perth-Huron’s Urgent Needs Fund, which helps organizations who experienced a sudden rise in need.
