Eighteen food banks in Grey, Bruce and Huron counties are receiving some financial support from unionized workers at Bruce Power.
The Power Workers’ Union has announced it is donating $18,000 to local food banks in the three counties.
“The PWU is pleased to be able to assist our local food banks in purchasing items that are in need for all of our community members to access,” a statement from the union explains. “The money will be distributed to the individual organizations over the coming days.”
The Power Workers’ Union Bruce Site Equity Committee was started in 2006 with the purpose of making cash disbursements of Bruce Site equity funds to community organizations and local causes.
It makes the community contributions on behalf of all 2,600 PWU members who work for Bruce Power.
