The Province is committing over $24 million to aid specialized mental health services for children and youth.
Noting the pandemic and isolation has taken a toll on today’s youth, Premier Doug Ford says $11 million of it will go to 80 children and youth mental health service providers.
“This funding will enable them to hire more staff, increase counselling and therapy and allow more intensive and crisis services,” said Ford.
Today’s announcement will also support youth wellness hubs with 10 locations across the province for youth ages 12-25 and support intervention programs for eating disorders, which, Ford says, affects 25 per cent of young people today, mostly girls.
The pandemic has been a challenging time for many children and youth. Today’s $24.3 million investment will increase access to counselling and therapy, and hire more staff. These new programs will make it easier for youth to receive the support they need.https://t.co/MHI4SCPzwX pic.twitter.com/LBJiUPy8YK
