Saugeen Shores Police have arrested a 36 year old man after a couple of attempted break-ins in Southampton.
Police say just before 4:30 Sunday morning, they responded to a report of a break and enter in progress. The occupants of the home reported a person was trying to force open a back door.
Officers arrived on scene but the suspect had fled the property.
Then, at about 5:15 a.m. police received another report of a break and enter in progress in the same neighbourhood. People in that house told police a person at the back of the house was trying to get in by slicing the screen door and forcing the sliding glass door open.
Police say they were nearby and found the man as he tried to flee.
He was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. Police say the 36 year old man of no fixed address has been charged with break and enter, trespassing at night, resisting arrest, mischief and breach of probation.
He was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
