Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “.
Tomorrow night is a big night at Woodbine Mohawk Park as the Ontario Sires Stakes Super Finals are set to be contested.
A total of 8 championship races with a purse of $ 250,000 in every event will be staged, with the winners being crowned as the best in the province in a variety of divisions for the 2020 harness racing season.
Tomorrow is also a very big night for Trevor Henry of Arthur and for the Walker Family.
Henry will drive a pair of horses that have been trained by Paul Walker of Owen Sound, including Imextraspecial.
Imextraspecial will have the 5 post position in the first race tomorrow night for the 2 year old filly trotters.
In 3 Gold Series appearances, including one about 10 days ago, Imextraspecial won all 3 races and finished second in the division standings heading to the final tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Walker’s wife, Brenda and their daughter Christine of Tara, co-own another prominent horse; Pemberton
In Race 8 tomorrow for the 3 year old colts & gelding trotters, Pemberton has the 3 hole, which should be favorable.
When last on the track, Pemberton turned in a winning time of 1;53 & 2 scoring his 3rd Gold Series win and his 7th of the season.
The races are big. The purses are big. And for the Walker Family, certainly for Paul & Brenda, this may represent their final thrust with a champion.
Where once, 30 years ago, the Walkers had a stable of 15 horses, that contingent is now down to about a half dozen, two of which; Imextraspecial & Pemberton, hope to score big victories on a big night tomorrow at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
I’m Fred Wallace
