Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “.
A significant piece of sports real estate was formally sold two weeks ago.
Gord Bennett sold Full Throttle Motor Speedway at Varney to Paul Trepanier.
Trepanier is extremely familiar with the facility and relates it’s been a goal of his to own and operate a combination race track-campground.
For almost 2 decades, Trepanier has been a racer at Varney competing in the Hurricane Division and then shifting in later years to the Late Model class.
While his focus has been primarily on the track at Full Throttle, his passion and vision were well aware of his surroundings, and to that end he’s got a variety of projects planned primarily to enhance the cosmetic appeal of the venue.
Among the upgrades he sees in the short term are a re-fencing of the perimeter, replacing the wood in the grandstands and seating areas, plus consulting with a paving company on the potential of revitalizing specific areas of both the track and the venue.
Full Throttle Motor Speedway at Varney is a 100 acre parcel that holds a large appeal for Paul Trepanier.
As a competitor, he likes the fans and the people who regularly support the race program.
And geographically, he likes the fact that Varney is rural and doesn’t seem to be a likely candidate to have housing subdivisions or significant industrial developments pop up, the way many tracks around North America now find themselves surrounded by.
The first major step for new owner Paul Trepanier will be a Drivers Meeting for all Full Throttle competitors scheduled for Saturday October 24th.
Meeting details are posted on their web site.
Essentially the Drivers Meeting will be a meet and greet, with everybody getting a vision to the horizon of next Spring when Paul Trepanier and Full Throttle Motor Speedway launch the 2021 auto racing season
I’m Fred Wallace
