A prominent name in local hockey circles has passed away.
Jim Nixon, a member of the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame died on Monday at age 91.
As a player, he played for the Collingwood Shipbuilders and won the league’s scoring championship a number of times.
As a player/coach he won an Ontario Championship with the Durham Huskies and later was the coach of the Hanover Barons, a longtime Jr C powerhouse, who beat Orangeville to win the Schmalz Cup in 1991.
