Clearview Township Mayor Doug Measures has sent a letter to The Honourable Christine Elliot, Minister of Health, requesting that a brand-new Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) be built beside the Georgian College Campus on Poplar Sideroad in Collingwood.
Mayor Measures is joined by the neighbouring South Georgian Bay municipalities of Collingwood, The Blue Mountains, Grey Highlands and Wasaga Beach in urging the government to invest in a new area hospital.
“I am writing to call on you to move forward with a new Collingwood General and Marine Hospital” Mayor Measures writes. “The original and current congested hospital that has only 74 beds, serves more than 60,000 permanent residents and 3.5 million annual visitors.”
“The community warrants a decent hospital that can serve this increasing capacity” continues Mayor Measures, “the community has already done their part and the land has been donated at the identified site on Poplar Sideroad. What we need now is for you and your government to do your part.”
