There are 55 new cases of Covid-19 reported in Simcoe/Muskoka today and one new death.
There are now four confirmed deaths relating to the virus at Simcoe Manor in Beeton and a fifth death at the facility. It’s not yet known if the fifth death is related to Covid-19. And there are five new cases at Simcoe Manor.
The other new cases reported since Friday include a man, 18 to 34, in Collingwood who has a community acquired case, and a woman, 18 to 34, from Wasaga Beach whose case is under investigation by the local health unit.
There is one case in Penetanguishene. The others are in Barrie, Essa, Innisfil, Bradford, and Adjala-Tosorontio as well as five new cases at Simcoe Manor in Beeton.
There is also a case in Bracebridge and one in Muskoka Lakes.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Charles Gardner, delivered an update today including about online chatter regarding the safety of cloth masks.
Dr. Gardner says it is true that medical grade masks protect you better if you have had close contact with someone with Covid-19 for 15 minutes or more.
Dr. Gardner continues to recommend the use of medical grade masks.
