Predators Release
Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/GM David Poile announced Monday that the team has signed forward Brad Richardson to a one-year, $1 million contract.
Richardson, 35 (2/4/85), is a veteran of 15 NHL seasons and won the 2012 Stanley Cup as a member of the Los Angeles Kings. In 2019-20, he tallied 11 points (6g-5a) in 59 games with the Arizona Coyotes, his fifth season with the organization, and added another three points (2g-1a) in nine postseason contests. The 6-foot, 190-pound center has scored at least 10 goals on five different occasions, including a career-high 19 with the Coyotes in 2018-19, and has hit the 20-point mark six times, with his best output being a 31-point (11g-20a) campaign in 2015-16. After beginning his career in 2005-06, Richardson has gone on to post 242 points (106g-136a) in 808 career games with stops in Colorado, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Arizona, serving as an alternate captain the last three seasons with the Coyotes.
Originally drafted by Colorado in the fifth round (163rd overall) of the 2003 NHL Draft, Richardson has suited up for 59 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, posting 13 points (7g-6a) and 33 penalty minutes. During the Kings’ Cup-winning run in 2012, Richardson skated in 13 contests, scored a goal and won 61.1 percent of his faceoffs. Prior to turning pro, he played four seasons with the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack from 2001-05 and was named to the league’s Third All-Star Team in 2004-05.
