The Special Investigations Unit has ended its investigation in connection with the death of a 29 year old Clearview Township woman.
The SIU says that OPP contacted them to report that a woman had been found dead on Bayfield Street, just north of Barrie, on September 15th.
Police reported at the time that an off-duty OPP officer, who was traveling north on Highway 26, came across the body on the roadway and made contact with the body even as he swerved to avoid it. The SIU started its investigation.
The unit reports there is no evidence that the officer did hit the woman so the investigation is discontinued and the file is closed.
Police say 29 year old Venessa Murphy was struck and killed, along with her dog.
Police have charged a 22 year old Barrie man for failing to stop after an accident resulting in death.
The SIU has discontinued its probe into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 29-year-old woman that occurred last month in Springwater. https://t.co/mYVusoxL8R
