Officers have been cleared of any wrong doing by the SIU following the arrest of a 21 year old woman in Wasaga Beach.
On the morning of August 27, police say 21-year-old Brooke Ward was arrested uneventfully by Ontario Provincial Police officers for a number of offences, after a video was posted online showing her berating people for parking near her home.
Police say she later began to experience discomfort in the cell and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Ward was six months pregnant at the time and was later discharged from hospital without any abnormalities having been diagnosed in respect of her ongoing pregnancy.
SIU Director Joseph Martino said, “It is apparent on the aforementioned-record that the woman did not suffer any serious injury while in police custody on August 27, 2020. Accordingly, the SIU is without jurisdiction to continue with its investigation and the file is hereby closed.”
