The Province of Ontario wants you to celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend with just your household and those you live with.
Premier Doug Ford made his message clear today saying these are not normal times due to Covid-19.
“I know it’s tough on everyone, it’s tough not to sit down, with, in my case, all my girls, but our family is no different than anyone else and we’re all going to make sacrifices to stop the spread of Covid-19,” said the Premier.
Ford adds that if you are alone this weekend you can pair up with one other household for thanksgiving.
Ford says the isolation is difficult on all of us and he also urged that we reduce our social circles.
Speaking to mental health, Ford today announced more funding for mental health services as the needs rise due to the pandemic.
$176 million will support mental health in Ontario and will help fix the fragmented mental health system, via things like the hiring of more nurse practitioners and more withdrawal services in rural areas.
The funding will also help increase day and evening care and increase support for indigenous peoples, as well as mental health and justice services.
Ford urges you to reach out to mental health services if you need help.
