A virtual garage sale is being held to raise money for the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce.
A media release from the Hospice says it aims to raise $5,000 with its Great Grey Bruce Virtual Garage Sale.
It’s being done though a partnership with a Canadian made app called Give Shop.
On Give Shop, you can donate and buy gently used items.
The marketplace is similar to Kijiji, but in this case, all sale proceeds from any items are donated directly to charity.
The Hospice says in the release, “Now more than ever the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce needs the support of its community and this is one new and exciting way to provide support.”
While the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many challenges at Chapman House a large expense the organization will be incurring is the replacement of the soft non-medical grade furnishings in the hospice’s shared spaces.
This includes couches and chairs in the front lobby, the quiet room, family room and the children’s room.
The organization says it’s currently sourcing quotes on replacement furnishing.
They say, “While it won’t cover the full cost of this unexpected expense Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce hopes to raise $5,000 through The Great Grey Bruce Garage Sale to get the fund started.”
