Blue Mountain Resort has announced its opening day for the skiing season.
The resort will start welcoming guests for the winter as of Thursday, December 10th.
It’s the 85th season for the ski resort, which has been putting in lots of work in the off-season to make sure that it’s the best one yet.
“It’s going to be a good one, because we’ve never been more prepared than right now for whatever this season brings,” said Tara Lovell, the Manager of Public Relations.
Improvements have been made all over the park, including 11 more miles of snowmaking pipe around the resort, which will help to create snow more efficiently.
A new chairlift monitoring system has been added in the Village, which will alert operators if a rider is not seated properly, or their safety bar isn’t lowered correctly.
“Planning for Opening Day starts well before spring even happens,” said Lovell. “The latter part of the ski season, which ended in April of this year, we’d already started the planning for where we need to go, and what we need to do, and the kind of work that needs to happen on and off-hill during the off-season. So, when everyone is enjoying patios and the beach, a lot of our team is laying snowmaking pipe, and building new facilities around the mountain to ensure that our operators have the most up-to-date technology and systems in place for the ski season.”
There is also a full list of winter of events, including Holiday Magic from November 20th-January 3rd.
“You can expect us to have lots of events throughout the season,” said Lovell. “Our event calendar is already being filled up, all the way through the season. You’ll see events on-hill, off-hill, for families, and of course our Holiday Season is a very big draw. Everybody is looking for a way to enjoy the holidays and get outside.”
Lovell said that the crew at Blue are hoping to have family events on Mondays. which includes free attraction access, kids’ meals, and entertainment.
This is the last week to get your hands on discounted passes, which includes the 5×7 passes. The last day to get those at discount is Thursday, October 15th.
If you happen to miss out, you can take advantage of Blue Mountain’s other package options, including the Ikon Pass, the Xplore Pass, and if you want to go all-out, you can purchase an All-Inclusive Ski Week package, which includes a 3-night stay with lift tickets, optional lessons and rentals, and meals and activities starting at $1,299.
Lovell added, “The difference between having winter and kind of suffering through the cold and the snow, and looking forward to winter and learning to love it, is finding something you love to do with the people you care about, outside.”
