Voter Information Letters (VIL) for the 2026 municipal and school board election will be delivered to mailboxes in Owen Sound beginning today (Monday).
The letters contain unique voting credentials and instructions needed to cast a ballot using the city’s secure internet and telephone voting system. Eligible electors can vote from 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26.
Residents who have not received their letter by Thursday, Oct. 8, should not worry, as eligible voters can still cast a ballot.
If a letter has not arrived, or if voter information needs to be updated, residents can visit City Hall or an Election Centre for assistance. Election staff can confirm eligibility, update information, add eligible residents to the voters’ list, and provide credentials.
Not receiving a letter does not mean residents cannot vote. Eligible electors can be added to the voters’ list or update their information right up until voting closes on Oct. 26. Election staff are available to help ensure every eligible voter can participate.
Election Centres will be open at the following locations and times:
– City Hall (808 Second Ave. E.): Oct. 16 from noon to 4 p.m.; Oct. 19 to 23 from noon to 4 p.m.; and Oct. 26 from noon to 8 p.m.
– Heritage Place Mall (1350 16th St. E.): Oct. 17 and 18 from noon to 4 p.m.; Oct. 24 and 25 from noon to 4 p.m.; and Oct. 26 from noon to 8 p.m.
