Huron County council heard a report about a new ambulance response plan report from emergency services.
According to provincial regulation, each municipality is required to approve a Land Ambulance Response Time Performance Plan for each following year, which needs to be received by the October 31st deadline.
Outlined in the report is a plan to ensure response time within specific regulations for each level of the Canadian Triage Acuity Scale (CTAS), including a 8-minute response time for level 1 patients.
The purpose of the performance plan is to provide response time standards, and to provide reporting that matches the needs of the patient.
In addition to a performance plan, the county is required to report the percentage of times a person equipped with a defibrillator arrived on scene for a patient of sudden cardiac arrest within six minutes of notification.
However, the county is not required to establish a target response time for that patient classification, but Huron County has previously chosen to provide a target of 40 percent in previous years.
